In this gallery are collections of projects I’ve worked on over the years, from historic, to fantasy, to the very silly! (Giant squid anyone?)
While some might get their own blog post or tutorial at some point, mostly this is so I have some place to collect and remember all the fun stuff I’ve made over the years. If you want to know more about a certain garment or project, feel free to ask!
Fighting Tunics
A big, flashy, feature of the Society for Creative Anachronism is the martial aspect, particularly the heavy weapons fighting. Knights in armor, grand tournaments, a bridge battle with 400 of your closest friends! While I don’t build armor, I’ve really found a lot of enjoyment in creating the “soft” part of several fighters kits, particularly tunics and tabards. I especially enjoy getting to experiment with using a fighters preferred colors or heraldry to create a functional garment that really makes the individual immediately recognizable and stand out on the field.

Sometimes you just need to make something silly!
While my main focus is garment sewing and costuming, every now and then I like to make something silly. Like a life sized giant squid plushie (or two)!

If we have to wear masks, might as well make them fabulous!
With the onset of covid and near universal masking policies, my focus suddenly switched to figuring out mass producing masks, using largely materials I had on hand. Thank goodness for my hoard of scraps and printed cottons I never really used! At this point I’ve sewn and given away somewhere around 2,000 masks. My first big batch went to my co-workers, a lot of the fancy ones have gone to charity auctions and galas. Some even went to the Derby! I made masks to co-ordinate with wedding and bridesmaids gowns personalized with embroidery and rhinestones. I’ve also done some themed masks to co-ordinate with different eras of clothing in the SCA, with landsknecht masks probably being my favorite!

Accessories make the look!
And I love to make the accessories! Hats and headwear are always a go-to for me, but I’m up for trying just about anything. Some of my favorite projects in the last few years have been making jewelry with my kiddo out of Halloween toys, and some over the top glammed up eye-patches for a very close and very fashionable friend who occasionally needs to wear them.

You’re never to old to play dress-up!
I love making costumes! I love excuses to wear costumes! I love helping other people with their costumes! For me Halloween is a month long event, and discovering cosplay was the best thing ever!

SCA clothes for friends and family
Sometimes other people let me make them stuff! Some of these have been commissions, and some gifts. Regardless, it is always an honor to see someone wearing something you’ve made!

I’m so vain I probably think this blog is about me…
While I am in fact also vain, it’s a simple truth that the majority of my historical sewing is done for myself. My teenage desire for a new gown every event, as well as a teenage lack of resources to buy a new gown every event is what ultimately set me on my path as a seamstress. So here is some pictures of me in stuff I’ve made for myself over the years.
